Choose Life!
"Choose Life!" Moses exhorted the vast throng of Israelites. He had set the options before them. At the end of one choice lay God's displeasure and death. At the end of the other was God's favor and a good life here and now with the promise of eternal to follow. The only sane option is - choose life!
Let's look at ways to pursue this choice.
First, you must be willing to take a godly risk; not tightrope walking across Niagara Falls, or white water rafting. Rather, godly risk takers include men and women like . . .
Noah, who built the ark because he believed God's Word.
Abraham, who left all that was home and familiar to journey into unknown territory in pursuit of God's promise.
David, who willingly faced Goliath because Goliath was singlehandedly demoralizing God's people with his taunt, "Send me a man and we'll fight!"
Mary, who heard the words of Gabriel, believed them, and submitted herself, saying, "Be it unto me according to thy word."
And these are not alone. God's Word is full of wondrous examples in all walks of life - men and women, girls and boys, old or young, bond or free. Take note! God loves and uses risk takers. The Bible term is faith. The truth is, any time you step out in faith on nothing but a promise from God, you are a risk taker.
The three Hebrew children learned that even a fiery furnace was worth the risk when they walked out unharmed, but warmed and radiating the joy of a rendezvous with the Prince of Peace.
When it comes to a godly risk, when it's God's promise, when it's sitting there right in front of you, waiting . . . it's really not a risk at all. It's a sure thing!
Go ahead. Be a risk taker. Take a leap of faith into the promises of God.
