Do you know how to pray blessings on your children?

" Praying a Blessing " by Renée Brainos.
Becoming a parent is exciting. And scary. And fulfilling. And overwhelming. It can be difficult to walk the line between advocating for your child and teaching them to advocate for themselves. Knowing when to do something for them, or when they need to do it for themselves. When to help, and when to allow them to struggle.

Thankfully, we don’t have to navigate the journey alone! We can pray for wisdom and direction as we raise Christian men and women.

Luke 2:52 says: And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

I often wonder how Mary prayed for, and parented Jesus. I’m guessing she didn’t say wait until your Father hears about this! Her prayers were most likely along the lines of help me bless my child as He blesses others.

I pray blessings on my children in four areas.

Spiritually. I pray their hearts are always in tune with the Spirit. I pray they love and serve Jesus with all that they are. I pray they place His plans above their own, and that they follow His Word.
Physically. I pray health and strength in their bodies. I pray they are safe in their day to day lives. I pray they take care of themselves.
Emotionally. I pray that the peace of God reigns in every situation they face. I pray their minds are filled with things that bring praise to Jesus. I pray against sadness, depression, anger, and bitterness.
Relationally. I pray that their marriages are strong. I pray their children are filled with joy. I pray that God places strong friendships in their lives. I pray they are faithful members in their churches.

Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless thee and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

This was what the Lord commanded Moses to say to the children of Israel.

We, as parents trusted to develop the lives of our children, pray the same blessing. May His favor be upon them. May His presence be with them. May His Spirit be in them. And may His joy and peace radiate from them.

Amen!

I like this:

Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless thee and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”
